Is it just me or did we all relate to Liz Lemon?

30 Rock rocks for its witty chaos, packed with absurd one-liners, and memorable characters.
It’s also a great satire about what happens behind the scenes: from the meetings and writer’s room rewrites to production disasters and those moments that a live studio audience would never see.
Yet, it feels like it could be so real.
Probably because the series is written by Tina Fey, influenced by her time at SNL… but a hyperbolised version of it? One hopes.
The entire premise of 30 Rock revolves around the studio team at NBC-GE that produces a live weekly sketch show (The Girlie Show, then TGS with Tracey Jordan), and gives us a peek at:
- Production pressures that range from the actors to the studio heads (there are many)
- Creative disagreements (again, there are many)
- Stressful, last-minute problem-solving scenarios (yep, of which there are many)
- And accidental, but brilliant brain sparks (in abundance!)
All of this messy, ‘in the middle of’ creativity are prime examples of why behind-the-scenes (BTS) content can work so well for brands, too.
